Getting Freaky

This NSA wire-tapping business is sure making me nervous. I was all ok with wire-tapping for calls that might have some roots in potential terrorist activity, namely if a call takes place between here and another "hostile" country, but this latest piece from USA Today just freaks me out.

It looks like the NSA has been busy monitoring domestic communications "using" our friendly telecommunications companies, specifically ATT, Verizon, and BellSouth. The only company to refuse with NSA's "demands" is Qwest, who is concerned with the potential legal and privacy matters that might affect their customers.

Granted, the companies are turning over origination and end phone numbers, but do we really want NSA to have a database this information on potential innocent individuals? We need some checks here people, and big kudos out to Qwest for sticking it to the man.

Mr. Zoom and I say all the time "If someone's listening to our conversations, we will probably be arrested within the year." Taken out of context, we are likely some pretty vile human beings. I just hope the file that already exists takes time to note "this one will laugh at almost anything, especially a boob/peen joke. probably not intelligent enough to be a real threat to anyone but herself."

We really need to get that organization under control. Wasn't it the NSA that several years ago refused a congressional subpoena to turn over evidence, and only later provided some info to congress when congress threatened to cut its funding?

I realize Congress should be capitalized, but I'm too lazy to fix it.

That applies to everyone... Here's the problem though... Since it DOES apply to everyone, basically the "getting" arrested allpies to anyone. Rock the boat and the gov't can arrest you because EVERYONE has done or is doing something wrong.

It be ugly.
